Proper lubrication is a critical factor in maintaining the performance and longevity of mechanical systems. In fact, more than half of mechanical failures or early wear are often linked to improper lubrication practices. Ensuring effective lubrication helps prevent scratching or welding between moving parts like NSK bearings and gears, reduces friction, minimizes wear, and improves equipment efficiency. This not only saves energy but also enhances productivity and brings economic benefits. Therefore, proper lubrication management should be a top priority. 1. **Professional Lubrication Management**: A dedicated team should be assigned to handle lubrication tasks. A comprehensive lubrication management system must be established, and regular training on lubrication knowledge should be provided to ensure all personnel are well-informed. 2. **Oil Level and Quality Control**: Ensure the oil tank has sufficient capacity and maintain an appropriate oil level. Regularly add lubricating oil and keep it at the correct operating level. Periodically degas the oil, allow sediment to settle, and maintain an optimal temperature within the system. 3. **Oil Sampling and Testing**: Conduct regular oil sampling and testing for odor, color, viscosity, moisture content, water separation ability, contamination levels, and foam resistance. If the wear particle content exceeds 0.1%, it can significantly increase mechanical wear, and if it goes beyond 0.5%, it becomes a serious risk. 4. **Data Analysis and Predictive Maintenance**: Analyze test results and predict potential lubrication issues. Develop improvement strategies to address these problems before they escalate. Implement safety measures such as alarms and interlocks for oil level, quality, temperature, and pressure to ensure system reliability. 5. **Preventing Contamination**: - **Procurement and Storage**: Maintain strict handling procedures for oil procurement, storage, distribution, and disposal. Store different types of oils separately with clear labeling, including name, brand, and date. Avoid mixing to prevent oil contamination. - **Storage Conditions**: Ensure containers are clean and sealed to prevent dust, impurities, and moisture from entering. Store in cool, ventilated areas away from direct sunlight, with fire exits available. Avoid open storage and ensure lids are properly closed to prevent rainwater ingress. - **Oil Inspection**: Regularly check for viscosity, viscosity index, moisture, demulsibility, and extreme pressure properties. The mechanical impurities should be below 0.01%, with no signs of moisture or sediment. - **Fuel Tank Maintenance**: Keep the manhole cover closed and use air filters with at least 100 mesh accuracy. Drain the tank regularly and install proper filtration systems when adding oil. Avoid using fiber cloths to clean the tank to prevent contamination. - **Filter Replacement**: When replacing filters, drain the oil in the filter cartridge carefully to avoid secondary pollution that could damage the system. - **Oil Change Schedule**: Replace oil based on its color, viscosity, moisture, and contamination levels, following a timely schedule. 6. **Initial Use of Oil Film Bearing Oil**: For first-time users, it is essential to thoroughly flush the existing lubrication system and equipment. Additional steps include: - Compare the physical and chemical properties of the oil film bearing oil with the manufacturer's specifications and equipment conditions to develop a suitable operation plan. - Involve skilled personnel to analyze oil data and fully understand its function and correct application methods.
