Recently, the Provincial Department of Science and Technology donated 100 solar-powered insect traps worth 200,000 yuan to Haishu Huazhuang Agriculture Company's fruit tree farm in Dongying Town. This is the first time such technology has been introduced to our county, marking a significant step forward in the development of sustainable and eco-friendly agriculture.
The solar-powered insect traps are equipped with solar panels, control circuit boards, batteries, black light lamps, insect collection basins, support poles, and anchor screws. These devices use specific wavelengths of light emitted by the black light lamps to attract flying pests that harm crops. During the day, the solar panels generate electricity, which is stored in the battery through the control system. At night, the black light automatically turns on, emitting ultraviolet light that strongly attracts harmful insects while having minimal impact on beneficial ones.
The harmful insects are drawn to the light and fly around it before falling into the collection basin, effectively reducing pest populations without the need for chemical pesticides. According to reports, each trap can capture thousands of pests daily, significantly improving the growing environment for fruits and vegetables.
Local officials from the County Science and Technology Bureau mentioned that the introduction of these solar traps has already shown promising results. The quality of the fruit trees has improved noticeably, leading to better economic returns and environmental benefits. Looking ahead, the bureau plans to promote this technology further, aiming to build a more sustainable agricultural system and contribute to the development of ecological agriculture in the region.
This initiative not only supports green farming practices but also aligns with broader goals of environmental protection and rural revitalization. By reducing reliance on chemical pesticides, the county is taking a proactive approach toward building a healthier and more resilient agricultural ecosystem.
