Ministry of Education, Lenovo, and Yutong reached a school bus safety cooperation

On May 31st, the Education Equipment Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Education, Lenovo Group, and Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Beijing to advance the development of a school bus safety operation information system. This collaboration aims to jointly research standards for the system, build a dynamic information management platform for safe school bus operations, and develop a supervision model tailored to China’s unique conditions. The initiative seeks to ensure the safety, standardization, and efficiency of school bus operations nationwide. Liu Shihai, Deputy Director of the Education Equipment Research and Development Center, Li Xianglin, Vice President of Lenovo Group, and Niu Bo, General Manager of Yutong Bus, were present at the signing ceremony. School bus safety has long been a major concern among educators, parents, and policymakers. While existing regulations cover certification, driver training, and operational guidelines, they have not fully addressed all the risks involved in daily school bus operations. With the growing number of school buses on the road, the need for better information management systems has become more urgent. This is where the partnership between the three organizations comes into play. By combining their strengths—educational policy expertise, technological innovation, and vehicle manufacturing experience—the collaboration aims to fill gaps in the current oversight system and create a more comprehensive approach to school bus safety. Liu Shihai emphasized that this cooperation aligns with the "Regulations on School Bus Safety Management" and represents a crucial step in ensuring student safety. He highlighted the center’s role in supporting educational equipment development through technical guidance and standardization efforts. Li Xianglin from Lenovo noted the company's extensive experience in IT services and its commitment to contributing to safer school transportation. Lenovo plans to leverage its expertise in data center solutions, virtualization, and mobile integration to support the digital transformation of school bus management. Niu Bo of Yutong Bus expressed confidence in the project, emphasizing the company’s long-standing dedication to school bus safety and its leadership in vehicle networking technology. Yutong aims to share its industry experience and continue innovating to enhance the security of students’ daily commutes. Looking ahead, the three parties will work together to develop technical and service standards for the school bus safety information system. This initiative marks the first step toward building a complete supervision framework, ultimately ensuring the safe and reliable operation of school buses across China.
