The plasticity difference between inclusions and steel will strongly affect the performance of the steel wire. When the steel is deformed, the elongation of the non-metallic inclusions is smaller than that of the steel, and the generated stress causes cracks or other discontinuities between the interface of the inclusions and the steel. Under the action of external force, the crack propagates and eventually an early fracture occurs.

Cone gaps and hot tears are common for non-deformed inclusions (v = 0). In order to make the inclusions harmless or even beneficial to the steel processing process, it is necessary to involve inclusions in the plastic flow of the steel in a specific thermal processing process. That is, the deformation index of the inclusions is high enough to prevent cracks from occurring.

The effect of different inclusions on fatigue performance is different. Inclusions have a high deformation index at all temperatures. The bonding force at the interface between the inclusions and the steel is not destroyed, and there is no tendency to form holes. Oxide inclusions are generally detrimental to fatigue performance, but there are differences between different oxide inclusion phases, and their size and location are also important. Harmful to fatigue performance are those spherical, non-deformable calcium aluminate inclusions and Al2O3 inclusions. These two inclusions retain their shape when the steel is deformed. The pores can develop around the globular calcium aluminate inclusions. The Al2O3 inclusions are often angular, and the angular inclusions are sources of fatigue fracture. Automobile suspension spring materials must not only control chemical composition, mechanical properties, decarburization, surface quality and other indicators, but also control non-metallic inclusions, non-metallic inclusions total greater than 2.5, B-type inclusions greater than 0.5, It has a bad influence on the fatigue life of the suspension yellow spring.
