The inner membrane used in bridge construction is commonly referred to as the hollow inner membrane, rubber airbag, hollow core mold, or inflatable core mold. These flexible structures have gradually replaced traditional materials like bamboo and steel molds, becoming a popular choice in modern bridge engineering due to their efficiency, durability, and ease of use.
One of the key advantages of the rubber inner membrane is its reusability—typically up to 70-80 times—making it a cost-effective solution for repeated projects. After each use, the inner mold should be cleaned thoroughly, deflated, rolled up, and stored in a shaded area away from direct sunlight and sharp objects that could cause damage.
**How to Use the Airbag Inner Mold**
1. **Preparation and Application**
Apply a release agent evenly on the outer surface of the airbag to ensure smooth removal after concrete setting. Then, insert the airbag into the steel reinforcement cage using ropes for control. Make sure the inflation valve remains outside the structure for easy access.
2. **Inflation Process**
Open the air intake valve and inflate the inner mold until the desired pressure is reached, monitored by a pressure gauge. Once the correct pressure is achieved, close the valve. For C-shaped molds, alternate inflation between sections until full pressure is reached. Avoid over-inflating to prevent damage.
3. **Fixing and Concrete Pouring**
During the pouring process, the airbag may float due to the weight of the concrete. Therefore, it must be securely fixed in all directions. Typically, the stirrups around a 250mm core mold are spaced about 80cm apart; adjust spacing accordingly if the diameter changes. When pouring concrete, follow standard procedures but ensure even vibration from both sides using a high-frequency vibrator. Avoid touching the mandrel at the end of the vibrator to prevent displacement of the inner mold.
4. **Demolding**
Once the concrete has set, open the valve to release the air, allowing the inner mold to be removed. The demolding time depends on the type of cement used and the environmental conditions.
5. **Cleaning and Storage**
After removal, clean the inner mold thoroughly, check for any leaks or damage, and store it properly for future use. Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of the airbag.
This innovative technology plays a crucial role in modern bridge construction, offering a reliable, efficient, and reusable alternative to traditional methods. Its flexibility and adaptability make it an essential component in creating complex and durable bridge structures.
