1. The workpiece is a small bushing with six evenly spaced axial grooves. To mill these slots, a large hex nut can be used as a fixture. A counterbore is machined at one end of the nut, and the outer diameter of the small bushing is slidably inserted into this counterbore. A bolt and washer are then used to press the bushing securely into the hex nut, creating a tight connection between all components.
Next, a flat-nose pliers is mounted on the vertical milling machine table. A suitable horn is placed in the jaws of the pliers, and the assembled parts—hex nut, washer, bolt, and bushing—are inserted into the horn. The pliers then clamp the assembly horizontally. Ensure that one side of the hex nut is tightly pressed against the horn. With the setup complete, the six axial slots on the small bushing can be milled sequentially by rotating and cutting the workpiece.
2. High-Efficiency Continuous Milling Device for Screw Head Slots
This device uses a chain driven by a geared motor via a sprocket. Multiple small clamps, designed to hold and compress the screws, are fixed along the chain. When the operator places a screw into the leftmost fixture, the chain moves the clamp to the right. As the clamp passes through a pressure block, an inclined surface causes it to contract, securing the screw firmly. At the same time, a saw blade cutter above the chain mills the slot on the screw head.
Once the clamp exits the pressure block, it automatically opens due to its elastic mechanism. A rotating top plate then pushes the slotted screw out of the clamp and into a collection box. This automated process ensures high efficiency and ease of operation, making it ideal for mass production environments.
