1. The workpiece is a small bushing that features six evenly spaced axial grooves. To mill these grooves, a large hex nut can be used as a holding fixture. A counterbore is created at one end of the hex nut, and its inner diameter is designed to fit snugly over the outer diameter of the small bushing. The bushing is then inserted into the counterbore of the hex nut, and secured in place using a bolt and washer. This setup ensures a tight and stable connection between the bolt, washer, bushing, and hex nut, allowing for precise machining.
Next, a flat-nose pliers is mounted on the vertical milling machine table. A suitable horn is placed into the jaws of the pliers, and the assembled components are positioned inside the horn. The pliers then clamp the assembly horizontally, ensuring the large hex nut is tightly pressed against the horn. With this setup, the six axial slots on the small bushing can be milled one after another with accuracy and consistency.
2. High-Efficiency Milling Device for Screw Heads
This device utilizes a geared motor to drive a chain via a sprocket. Along the chain, several small clamps are fixed, each designed to grip and compress the screw during the slotting process. When the operator inserts a screw into the leftmost fixture, the chain moves the clamp to the right. As it passes through a pressure block, the inclined surface causes the clamp to contract, securing the screw firmly. At this point, a saw blade cutter on the upper part of the machine mills the slot on the screw head.
After exiting the pressure block, the clamp automatically opens due to its elastic mechanism. A rotating top plate then pushes the slotted screw out of the clamp and into a component box. This system enables continuous, high-efficiency production of slotted screws with minimal manual intervention.
