Precautions for daily use of pig feed

1. To ensure optimal pig health and feed efficiency, the feed should be ground as finely as possible to prevent spoilage and mold growth. Fishmeal should be used sparingly to cut down on feeding costs. Rapeseed cake and cottonseed cake must be properly detoxified before use, and their inclusion in the diet of pregnant sows should be strictly limited—never exceeding 5% of the total feed. Overfeeding green or juicy feeds to boars can lead to a condition known as "grass belly," which may impair their reproductive performance. However, when feeding empty sows, a higher amount of green and succulent feed can help stimulate estrus and improve breeding success.

2. For pigs raised in soil or those that are crossbred, the proportion of corn and soybean meal can be slightly reduced. A portion of the corn can be replaced with by-products like rice bran or wheat middlings, while some rapeseed cake, cottonseed cake, or other protein sources can also be substituted with soybean meal. This adjustment helps lower feed costs while maintaining or even improving overall feed efficiency.

3. It's important to adjust the feed formulation according to the season. During colder months, increasing the energy content of the diet by using more corn can help pigs better withstand the cold and boost their disease resistance. At the same time, the protein content from sources like soybean meal should be reduced slightly, but not below 15% of the total crude protein. In warmer seasons, the energy feed ratio should be lowered, and calcium levels should be increased to support bone development and overall health.

4. Certain plants and vegetables should be avoided to prevent poisoning. Leafy vegetables, if overfed, can lead to nitrite poisoning. Similarly, tender corn or sorghum seedlings should not be given to pigs, as they may cause hydrogen cyanide poisoning. Potato sprouts and fresh potato stems or leaves should also be excluded from the diet, as they contain solanine, a toxic compound that can harm pigs.

5. Careful attention must be paid to the salt and distiller’s grains content in the feed. Excessive salt can lead to salt poisoning, while too much distiller’s grains may cause toxicity, both of which can result in serious economic losses. Monitoring and controlling these ingredients is essential for maintaining the health and productivity of the herd.

Brass Nut

Brass fasteners are used for their physical and aesthetic properties. Brass is utilized due to its high thermal conductivity and corrosion resistant properties, it is suitable for use in hot and cold environments, and resistant to water corrosion, making it a staple of industries such as heating and plumbing. Brass fasteners are largely non-magnetic (like any fastener, slight magnetic properties can develop during the manufacturing process) and resistant to tarnishing.

Brass fasteners are suited for some marine environments, including brackish water and slow current sea water; brass in this environment develops a protective green coating. Brass fasteners are also commonly used with wood applications, as the golden coloring blends well with the tan wood. Brass is a softer metal and must be used with care, always drilling pilot holes and using driver bits that fit the head of the screw precisely to prevent stripping. Brass Bolts also require a pilot hole be driven before installtion.
