The foundry of Henan Province found that large gold mines contain nearly 40 tons of gold.

Abstract A significant breakthrough has been made in geological exploration in Henan Province. On February 11, it was reported by the Second Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources under the Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources that a large-scale gold deposit has been discovered within the integrated exploration project in Jixian County. This gold-molybdenum polymetallic ore project is one of the key demonstration initiatives aimed at advancing mineral exploration across the province.

The Jixian Gold-Molybdenum Polymetallic Ore Integrated Exploration Project serves as a pilot for the "Mine-Seeking Breakthrough" strategy launched by the Provincial Bureau. It is primarily managed by the Second Geological and Mineral Resources Survey Institute. From 2009 to 2013, the project involved 168 drilling holes, with over 82,100 meters of drilling completed, and a total investment of nearly 150 million yuan. These efforts have yielded promising results in mineral exploration.

“Based on the current level of engineering control, the Yushuping mining area has reached a large-scale gold deposit, while the Dongwan mining area has achieved a medium-sized scale,” said Dean Guo Fusan from the Second Institute of the Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources. “Together, the two areas are expected to yield nearly 40 tons of gold metal.” He further added that the exploration results could potentially support mine operations for up to 42 years after the project's completion.

This discovery marks a major step forward in Henan’s mineral resource development, offering both economic and strategic benefits. With such substantial reserves identified, the region is now positioned to play a more prominent role in the national and even international gold market. The success of this project also highlights the importance of continued investment in geological research and advanced exploration techniques.
