Seven technical requirements for indoor installation of surveillance cameras

In the surveillance camera installation room, wiring must not only be safe and reliable but also organized, neat, and securely fixed. Proper wiring is essential to ensure long-term performance and ease of maintenance. Here are the key technical requirements: 1. The rated voltage of the camera cables should exceed the operating voltage of the circuit. The insulation material must be suitable for the installation method and environmental conditions. Additionally, the cross-sectional area of the conductor must meet both power supply needs and mechanical strength requirements. 2. When installing camera wiring, it's best to avoid using wire connectors if possible. If joints are necessary, they should be either crimped or soldered. The connections should not be subjected to any mechanical stress. Moreover, no connectors should be left inside conduits; if unavoidable, they should be placed on terminal blocks within junction boxes. 3. In building installations, camera wiring should be kept straight, either horizontal or vertical. All wires should be protected by conduits—plastic or metal pipes, depending on the specific indoor piping requirements. For ceiling installations, metal conduit can be used, but it must be securely fastened and neatly arranged. 4. Surveillance signal cables must not run parallel to high-power electrical lines, nor should they share the same conduit. If space constraints require proximity, they should be kept at least 50 cm apart to minimize interference. 5. The AC power supply for the surveillance alarm control box should be installed separately from other cables. The camera should not be connected to signal lines or low-voltage DC cables in the same conduit. The installation of AC power cables must follow standard electrical codes and safety regulations. 6. Wiring from the alarm control box to the ceiling should be properly sheathed and either embedded in walls or protected by metal pipes. This improves the overall security and durability of the system. 7. There are two main types of surveillance camera wiring: visible (bright) and concealed (dark). Visible wiring should be straight, clean, and well-organized. Concealed wiring should use short, smooth conduits with minimal bends to ensure easy installation and maintenance. By following these guidelines, the surveillance system will not only perform reliably but also maintain a professional and secure appearance. Proper planning and attention to detail during installation can prevent future issues and enhance the longevity of the entire setup.
